Mountain House 2

The design of Mountain House 2 has a double condition due to its location on the mountain, enjoying a native forest, and a great view of the city of Medellín, creating different spaces and environments throughout the day, making the house a place that offers different spaces and experiences. It is a midpoint between the city and the countryside, it is open and closed, opaque and transparent, light and heavy, exposed and hidden.

Mountain House 2 is distributed in two modules: the first, houses the domestic area, and the second, is a workspace to receive clients, operating as home office. These two modules are joined by a stone wall, thus generating independence and privacy.

Mountain House 2 has two outdoor spaces that regulate the temperature: a garden for sunbathing in the morning -located between the cut made in the land and the transparent enclosure-, and a viewpoint to watch the sunset.

Selecting slate stone as the main material on the façade is since the house is perceived in a more abstract way in the landscape, presenting it as a silhouette without transgressing the landscape. As a complement to the main material, thinking about the client and low maintenance in the long term, natural or neutral materials such as teak and concrete were chosen.
